Spring: Cleanse Liver & Gall Bladder

Spring is the time for liver and gall bladder cleansing. Here’s an easy way to cleanse at home without expensive pills or programs.

Before cleansing any organs, it is important to cleanse the colon or large intestine. If the colon is backed up or has blockages, cleansing other organs will not be effective and waste will just be forced into recirculation.

So, before attempting the gall bladder and liver flush program, it is recommended to get colonics or enemas, drink at least 2 quarts of water daily, and include mostly vegetables and fruits or other good fiber sources in the diet for a few weeks.

If gall stones are suspected, it is not recommended to attempt the cleanse. An ultrasound can confirm if gall stones are present.

Here are the steps for a simple and natural gall bladder and liver cleanse:

1. From Sunday breakfast through Friday lunch, drink at least a quart of apple juice or cider every day. The apple juice softens sludge in the gall bladder that can lead to digestive issues.

2. Three hours after Friday lunch, dissolve 2 teaspoons of Epsom salts or disodium phosphate in hot water and drink it. Follow with a few ounces of grapefruit juice. Do not eat any other foods for the rest of the day.

3. Two hours later, repeat step 2. Keep hydrating.

4. Just before bedtime on Friday, mix half a cup of unrefined olive oil with a few ounces of grapefruit or lemon juice. Drink it and lie on the right side with the right knee pulled up to the chest for 30 minutes. This position signals the gall bladder to release bile and sludge.

5. Go to sleep.

6. The next morning, dissolve 2 teaspoons of Epsom salts in hot water and drink it. Follow with grapefruit or lemon juice.

Take no food for an hour after this. The second purge eliminates the released sludge and toxins from the previous night.

Be near a bathroom for the rest of the day. Eliminated waste may be greenish and jelly-like.

Other benefits may include pain relief in the upper back and improved liver function.

This cleanse is recommended every few years. Organic or homegrown foods and high levels of toxins in our environment can stress the digestive system. This program provides excellent flushing results compared to herbal programs.
