Marijuana Saliva Test – How To Pass The Test

Fastest most effective detox for THC/marijuana that I've used is Toxin Rid. Gets good ratings from other users too. If you're a heavy smoker definitely get the 10 day. Buy it here.

DNA swab of saliva taken from senior manYou get your new job and you’re lucky enough to work for a company that administers a saliva drug test. You may ask how exactly that is considered lucky.

That’s because a saliva drug test, whether it’s through swabbing your mouth or making you spit into a cup, is the easiest to pass. This test can only detect marijuana in your system for 12 to 24 hours. In other words, quit smoking for that long and you have a pretty good chance of passing your drug test.

Compare that to a urine drug test where marijuana can be traced far easier, especially if you’re a heavy user. The worst is a hair drug test because it typically goes back 90 days, although it doesn’t detect whether you smoked in the last 2 weeks. It’s a strange testing method.

Why Companies Give Saliva Drug Tests

By far the most common type of drug tests is a urine drug test. People are familiar with it, it’s easy to administer, and potentially less invasive than a blood test.

But saliva drug tests are gaining popularity among employers. For one thing, it’s less expensive than urinalysis and the results can be verified immediately. It’s even less invasive than a urine test, since it simply involves spitting into a cup or swabbing your mouth.

Whether saliva drug tests are reliable or not is up to debate. Since marijuana doesn’t linger in your saliva for long, testing for past drug use is not effective. Saliva drug tests are more useful for detecting other drugs like opiates and methamphetamine.

Because of its convenience, it’s not uncommon for employers to interview, drug test, and hire employees all in the same day, within hours.

What Saliva Drug Tests Look for

Many information sites use THC and THC-COOH interchangeably, but there’s a bit of difference. This difference is significant enough when choosing how to tailor your methods to pass a drug test.

Different drug tests look for different chemicals. THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol) is a main ingredient in marijuana that is responsible for the “high” and pain relief. Urine drug tests don’t look for THC, but rather, THC-COOH (pronounced carboxy THC), which is the substance produced while metabolizing THC.

On the other hand, saliva tests do look for THC traces that linger in your mouth several hours after you smoke.

How Long Does THC Stay in Your Saliva?

THC will test positive within one hour of use, but it may only show positive for 12 to 24 hours after last use. This is uniform regardless of the frequency and dosage of your marijuana, your metabolism speed, or other typical factors that affect how long THC stays in your system.

But keep in mind that a saliva test (a mouth swab or spitting) can be given at any time or anywhere, so it’s favored by law enforcement. Because of its short time window and convenience of immediate results, it’s immune to the usual tricks and manipulations.

With 40% of companies, you’ll initially have to pass a drug test of some form. But you’re not in the clear just because you passed the first one. There are types of employment that continuously require you to undergo a drug test (like a commercial driver). A mouth swab test is a favored method because it’s convenient. You might get caught off-guard and not have enough time to prepare.

Ways to Pass a Mouth Swab Drug Test

A mouth swab drug test is easier to swing in your favor than a urine drug test. It doesn’t require you to drink 12 glasses of water in days leading up to your test, although drinking lots of water can certainly help. That’s good news, since drinking too much water can damage your system or possibly kill you.

It also doesn’t require you to exercise vigorously. Exercising is often recommended to pass a urine drug test, because of THC-COOH, the metabolite that binds to your fat cells. More exercise equals burning more fat cells. Since saliva detection can only trace marijuana from the last few hours, exercising isn’t necessary.

Before you try any of the methods listed below to pass your mouth swab drug test, it’s important to recognize what you’re trying to achieve. These methods don’t actually wash out any marijuana in your system. They simply help you mask the traces of it, exclusively for the purpose of passing your drug test.

Because the mouth swab drug test’s detection period is so short, many of the methods to pass it require you to wait until the day of your actual test. But what if your method fails? Is there any way to find out beforehand?

To get around this problem, try one of the home test kits to see if you have a remote chance of failing. Even the Dollar Tree test kits have been reported as being surprisingly accurate.

Also know that for any drug test, the most obvious way and the only 100% way is to not smoke marijuana for days or weeks leading up to your drug test. But since that’s not always feasible, here are a few ways to pass your mouth swab drug test:

  1. Cleansing Mouthwash

mj03_mouthwashThis is by far the most popular method to use for passing a mouth swab drug test. Well-known, well-reviewed brands include Ultra Kleen Saliva Cleansing Mouth Wash and Supreme Klean Saliva Detox Mouthwash. Magnum Saliva Cleaner is another option.

Mouthwash is popular because it’s convenient and inexpensive. Combine that with the fact that a mouth swab test is easier to manipulate than a urine sample, and you have a winner.

All cleansing mouthwashes work the same way by cleansing toxins from your mouth. You swish it in your mouth for 3 minutes (or as directed), spit it out, and repeat until you use the entire bottle. You should refrain from brushing your teeth or drinking anything afterwards until your drug test is over.

As a backup, you should avoid smoking or drinking at least 4 hours before using any mouthwash.

  1. Chewing Ice

Chewing ice leading up to your drug test can help cleanse your mouth and get rid of any traces of marijuana in your saliva. People report varying success with this method, so pair it with not smoking for at least a day before trying this.

There’s also the problem of how to obtain ice while you’re waiting to take the test, as some testing facilities might not let you have any drinks on-site.

  1. Chewing Gum or Mints

This works similarly to chewing ice. Chewing gum or mints dilute your saliva and may give a negative result on your mouth swab test. Keeping your mouth clean in general by 1. Brushing your teeth, 2. Chewing ice, and 3. Chewing gum or mints is a good way to confuse your drug test. Most people who report success with the “chewing” method achieve it by doing all three.

You can probably start seeing the major advantage of using a mouthwash instead of chewing ice and gum.

  1. Drinking Lots of Water

This makes more sense if you’re trying to pass a urine drug test, but some people have reported good results by drinking a lot of fluids combined with eating meals high in fat. Because you’ll be urinating a lot, this method is rather inconvenient and can possibly damage your health.

5.Using Hydrogen Peroxide

This is similar to using a mouthwash and has the same effect. You should rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide up to an hour before your drug test.

The only caveat is that there isn’t a lot of travel size hydrogen peroxide (they exist in a spray form) for you to carry around without arousing suspicion.

Passing a mouth swab drug test is done more easily than others, like a urine drug test. There are mouthwashes specifically designed to rid your saliva of THC traces. You can combine a mouthwash with other methods like chewing ice or gum, or use it as a standalone method.

The good thing about a mouth swab drug test is that it can only test for a very recent drug use, usually within 24 hours. So you don’t need to worry if you’ve been a heavy user for a few years. That’s where a saliva test has an advantage over a hair drug test.

A saliva drug test looks for THC, which is different from what a urine drug test looks for (THC-COOH). THC can stay in your saliva for up to 24 hours; so if you really want to make sure you pass your mouth swab drug test, just don’t smoke for a day.

All of the methods listed above work best if you quit smoking for at least a day. A few days would be even better.

As always, trying to mask your traces of marijuana is not the same as actually flushing it out of your system. The methods here only deal with the former. The latter can only be achieved by quitting completely.
